If your Air Handler is not running...read out the info below.

Your Air Handler trouble could one of several reasons…feel free to give us a call to check it out. We will rapidly respond to your emergency Air needs.

Reasons for issues

  1. Power Issues: Check if the air handler is receiving power. This could involve a tripped circuit breaker, a blown fuse, or a disconnected power supply.
  2. Thermostat Malfunction: If the thermostat isn’t working correctly, it may not be signaling the air handler to turn on.
  3. Air Filter: A clogged or dirty air filter can restrict airflow, causing the air handler to malfunction or shut down to prevent damage.
  4. Blocked Vents or Registers: Ensure that all vents and registers are open and unobstructed. Blocked vents can disrupt airflow and strain the air handler.
  5. Faulty Motor: The motor in the air handler may be malfunctioning or burnt out, preventing the fan from running.
  6. Faulty Safety Float Switch: If the float switch is faulty it can cause the air handler to turn off. This is by breaking the circuit for cooling when the thermostat calls for it.
  7. Frozen Coils: If the evaporator coils freeze, airflow can be restricted, leading to the air handler not working properly.
  8. Refrigerant Leak: A refrigerant leak can cause the system to malfunction and may result in the air handler not working correctly.
  9. Dirty Coils or Components: Dust and debris buildup on coils or other components can hinder the air handler’s performance.
  10. Faulty Capacitor: Capacitors provide the initial jolt of electricity to start the motor. A faulty capacitor can prevent the motor from starting.
  11. Blocked Drain Line: A blocked drain line can cause water to back up and trigger a safety switch that shuts off the air handler.
  12. Thermostat Settings: Check that the thermostat is set to the correct mode (cooling or heating) and the desired temperature.
  13. System Age: Older systems may experience wear and tear, leading to various components malfunctioning over time.

If you’re unable to diagnose and fix the issue yourself, it’s best to contact a professional HVAC technician for assistance. They can accurately diagnose the problem and perform any necessary repairs.

What is a trip charge?

A trip charge for an HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) company typically refers to the fee they charge for making a service call to your location, regardless of whether they perform any repairs or services. This fee covers the cost of sending a technician to your home or business, including their time, transportation, and overhead expenses.

Trip charges can vary depending on the HVAC company, your location, and the time of day (for example, whether it’s a standard business hour service call or an after-hours emergency). In some cases, HVAC companies may waive the trip charge if you proceed with repairs or services after the initial diagnostic visit.

It’s essential to inquire about trip charges and any other potential fees when scheduling a service call with an HVAC company, so you’re aware of the total cost upfront. Additionally, some HVAC companies may offer promotions or discounts that could reduce or eliminate the trip charge under certain conditions.

Comfort Peeps believes in offering value to our customers and clients, we often offer promotions to waive trip charges.

Warranty Information

The manufacturer offers a parts warranty on equipment when the product is registered on their website. Failure to register may result in a warranty that is less than the maximum advertised by the manufacturer. Now and days, parts warranties extend to 10 years. Additionally, AC contractors typically provide a one-year warranty on installation and replacement of any defective parts. After the initial year, contractors will facilitate warranty transactions to replace parts, though labor charges may apply. Contractors may also incur warranty processing fees from distributors, which can vary. Make sure to inquire if your air handler is under warranty.
